win2000 sp4 + atgd3.22 + ie6.1(or flashget or firefox - does not matter)
everythings seems to work OK but all downloads I try stop in a second, if paused and resumed works for another second and stops again.
all native rules are kept.
on another comp with basically the same soft everuthings worked fine, I take the third one and it fails again... |

|

| Thanks for the post. We will try to reproduce on our side. We aren't addressing this specific issue in version 3.3. But to address other issues, we have to upgrade some of our hooks into the low level Windows drivers. I am assuming that we will get some indirect fixes with these upgrades. Would you be willing to retest this with the v3.3 beta when it is available? |

Be aware W2K/SP4 runs what I'd call "generally flakey" with AtGuard 3.22.11. Some see nothing while others see various things - so your example isn't surprising.
Someone brilliantly replaced SP4's tcpip.sys with an older version - specifically version 5.00.2195.5267 (SP2 I think) which I run and have had excellent luck with on both my desktop and laptop. It runs very well. But system files are tricky AND DANGEROUS to replace so be warned... wait for 3.3 or try it at your own risk. _________________ Expert Opinions $5 ... Shut Up $10 |

just one more thing, this kind of behavior does not depend on firewall settings, even if I turn the firewall off the ?bug? is still there, only the "enable atguard" checkbox have some effect on this.
By the way after reinstall this flag is not activated any more and nothing works, I will probably try to clean the registry and reinstall it again.
Sure I like to contribute to testing of 3.3. do you need some specific registry settings or something like that to reproduce the ?bug?.
on my laptop with sp4 everything works fine, but I can try to replace the file (recovery console, right?), the only problem is to get that old tcpip.sys, can you somehow share it please? |

Maybe you already looked but I found my old versions(s) in the various uninstall locations. Any system that backed up SP3 should have it. I looked up SP3 is 5267.
I find it can actually be replaced with explorer in this order:
...\ServicePackFiles\i386
...\system32\dllcache
...\system32\drivers
Then reboot and pray. _________________ Expert Opinions $5 ... Shut Up $10 |

It does appear MS recently updated tcpip.sys again... to 5.00.2195.7087. Best I can tell it's another vulnerability addressed and I had to again restore the old 5.00.2195.5267. Until I did, Windows Update (the only thing I use MSIE for) hangs iexplore.exe quite badly running AtGuard. But after putting in the old tcpip.sys, Windows Update reports (2) uninstalled updates that were installed. These AtGuard workarounds are getting baaaad... AtGuard 3 may be just in time. _________________ Expert Opinions $5 ... Shut Up $10 |
